The House of Obed program is designed to train, develop, and support young musicians. We offer three tracks for students to engage in the art of music: Performance, Composition & Lyrics, and Production. Here's what you and your child can expect from each track.

Performance

This is our track for all musicians, particularly those interested in playing in a rock-band-type setting. Here, students choose a primary instrument to study and a secondary one if they are willing to put in the extra work. They will take weekly lessons on their primary instrument and be placed with a band when their skills have reached a workable level. Each session is roughly 9 weeks long, during which they will be challenged to prepare up to five songs. Once they are working with other students in a band, they will have one or more performance opportunities every three months.

Composition & Lyrics

This is our track for all our artists and musicians who prefer to create more than they enjoy playing someone else's creation. Here, students will choose a primary instrument where they will learn composition techniques, study music theory, analyze compositions across the ages, and create their own works. Music performance or production students may be paired with composition students to present and record their projects. ​

Production

This is our track for those musicians who love the world of music but prefer to stay out of the limelight. Here, students will choose between our Live Sound and Studio tracks. They will learn what it takes to engineer a live show or studio session from start to finish. While working with their instructor, they will set up and tear down stages and studios for each project they work on. Once their skills have reached the level for collaboration, they will be paired with a student from the Performance or Composition & Lyrics tracks to create new projects or put on concerts.
